Session on Diet, Nutrition and Physical fitness

A session on diet, nutrition and physical fitness was held for the students of Std 5th to 9th on 17th & 18th December 2018 to enlighten on the importance of being healthy and fit all the time. This session was conducted by Sr. Joyce, our school counselor and Dr. Angelica in the school hall. All the students enjoyed this session with all their queries raised and answered by the speaker.

 

St. Mary's High School Athletic meet held in December 2019

We are proud to announce that our students participated in the Athletic meet at St. Mary's High School held in December 2019 and they won various medals at the event. Following are the students who participated in the event:

1. Miss. Benisa D'souza - Under 12 yrs - 100 m (gold), 50 m (gold)

2. Miss. Samantha Correia - Under 14 yrs - 100 m (gold), 50 m (gold)

3. Miss. Rishika Soni - Under 16 yrs - 100 m (gold)

4. Mst. Siddharth Zuluk - Under 16 yrs - 100 m (gold)

5. Mst. Shivam Singh - Under 16 yrs - 200 m (gold)

Sensitization towards disabled persons

Holy Cross High School observes Monday 4th December as the day for the 'differently abled'. A programme has been arranged to create awareness for students on sensitization towards the handicapped and the special needs of these persons. A procession with placards and slogans to claim the rights of these gifted persons has been organized by the teachers.

 

Eye Test Camp, 1 & 2 Sep 2018

An Eye testing camp was organized for the Holy Cross High School students on September 1st & 2nd. Students availed this facility and checked their eyesight.

Birthday of Cardinal Oswald Gracias

Our beloved Cardinal celebrates his birthday on the 24th December. This year he has asked school children to celebrate his birthday by helping other children who are less fortunate. Holy Cross High School will support rural schools of the tribals in Raigad district of Maharashtra with writing material like notebooks , pencils and erasers. Each class will decide on one gift which will be handed over by the PTA to the tribal children.

 

Tobacco Free School Campaign

The school has initiated a 'Tobacco Free School' campaign by awareness programs, posters and drawing competition. The campaign is aimed at eliminating use of tobacco in all forms.

Upcoming events

School Annual Day to be staged on Saturday, 9th December 2017. Mr. Brendan Brako, Rtd ACP , Mumbai Police will be the Chief Guest.

 

School Sports Day

The Annual School Sports Day to be held on December 16th. The elimination rounds to be held on the 24th November for boys and 25th November for girls on the school grounds.

 

SSC results for 2017

Our school secured a 100% result at the SSC Board exam this year. Master Warren Fernandes stood first in the school with 95.60% , Master Jayesh Suryavanshi stood second with 94.80% and Master Aryan Yadav stood third with 92.80%. We congratulate our students and wish them all the best as they take up their college studies.

Counselling for school children

Sister Joyce Lucas , a religious sister belonging to the St Paul’s Sisters , Bandra will be availble for conselling at Holy Cross High School. Sr Joyce will meet students and parents during school hours on Monday , Wednesday and Friday. Sr Joyce is a trained counsellor and has years of experience working with children and youth. We are happy to have Sister in our school and we look forward to many sessions with children and parents that Sister will organise at our school.

 

Recollection for Catholic Students

The Salesian Fathers will be conducting recollections for Catholic students of our school. The recollection will be conducted on Thursdays and will be accompanied by confessions and counselling for the students . Recollections for standard 9 and 10 will commence in September followed by other classes. Parents are requested to enlist their children so as to give them a good catholic spiritual foundation during their school years.

 

First Friday Mass for Students

 

First Friday mass for Catholic students every month has been started since June . The mass in June was celebrated as the Mass of the Holy Spirit to begin the academic year. Fr Anslem Gonsalves celebrated the mass which was concelebrated by all the fathers. The Mass in the month of July was offered by our teachers for all our school students who have passed away during the last academic year. The mass in August which happened to be the feast of St Vianney was celebrated as Vianney Day in our school. Special prayers and spiritial bouquets were offered by the children to our priests.
